Hobo x Selam presents 'Local Heroes'
Gil Felix met Afrobeat in Paris in the '80s and has since crafted his own Brazilian Afrobeat sound. In Gil’s musical universe, it’s clear that African music has crossed the Atlantic back and forth. Brazilian samba reggae blends here with Congolese soukous, Angolan tones, and is spiced up with modern Nigerian Afrobeat.
As a central figure in Bahia’s reggae scene, his hit Ti, Ti, Ti, Bla, Bla, Bla is still a classic across Brazil. With 20 years in the European music industry as an independent artist and deep festival experience from Montreux, Berlin Carnival, and Latin Village, Gil Felix takes it further with his new album Ubalafon. Gil’s signature swing here blends with an explosion of fresh beats from Lagos, resulting in a transatlantic groove from both sides of the ocean.
